The 9th Draft of the Louisville Animal Control Ordinance has just been
released. Although Louisvillians are now permitted to go to court to appeal
a decision by the Secretary of Public Works (previous head of the Sanitation
Dept), few other changes that we requested were made. In fact, one change
that was made PROHIBITS the owning of any animal NOT SPECIFICALLY NAMED in
the ordinance, even though Kentucky is NOT a home rule state, and the Metro
government lacks the authority to pass such a sweeping prohibition.
This is still an ANIMAL RIGHTS ordinance, and MUST be defeated!
