How does a puppy from a litter where there was no mega puppies/ puppy produce a mega puppy? A carrier? Does a carrier inherit the gene from one parent or both to be a carrier? Carolyn I don't know whether it takes both parents to produce a mega puppy. If it does then the puppy would have the problem itself and not be just a carrier. I recently bred a litter where 3 out of 5 puppies had mega. The bitch had previously been bred to another sire where there were no megas in the litter of 6 pups. Did the second sire produce the 3 megas by himself or were there no megas in the first litter because the sire of that litter doesn't carry the gene? Either way the second sire will not be bred again. Putting down young puppies is the hardest thing to do in this game.
