Don't know how old he is but could be old dog vestibular disease. I
have had it happen to two older dogs. They hold their head to the
side, have bad equilibrium and can fall over. Eyes can roll around.
It can last any where from a few days to several weeks. My vet
treated it with dramamine and pred but said normally it just has to
resolve itself. They don't eat because of the loss of equilibrium
makes them nauseated. One of my girls I had to leave at the vets as I
was working full time. I would bring all kinds of things for her to
eat every day after work but she did not eat much. She stayed at the
vet for over a week and then I brought her home when she could standup
and not fall over but I had to walk her using a sling for several
weeks and gradually she began to eat. Eventually it did resolve itself
(4 weeks or so) and she was fine except for a permanent tilt to the
head.
But it could also be a brain tumor. Hope it is vestibular disease as
that will resolve itself.
