Are we on 'schedule' here? This has been hashed and rehashed forever. Let's
see, next up will be a 'discussion' of the artist. Someone said that our breed
is 'classic' and does not change...not so by any means. The GSD, as we know
it, is a very new breed...well at least compared to many. While the standard
should not change, the interpretation might well change. Getting a well done
and professional visual presentation is a good goal. As an influencial breed
club, we should have professional tools to hand to our future judges. I say we
need to support those who have workd their ass*s off for this project. The arm
chair quaterbacks out there are really starting to bug me. Cynthia

more people agreed on one. That would not be one that was perfect all over, but
one who moved as the standard calls, one who was beautiful/ to the standard set

I hear all the suggestions as to what we [the membership] don't want done but
no one is saying how they want it done. Is it that you want new people
handling the nis? And who is to say there will not be as many people object to
the
way they do it. Do you want every new page that is revised to be put to a vote
of the entire membership? We are going to need a lot of money to do it that
way. Really I do not agree or disagree with the objections being raised but
along with those objections you must submit your plan as to how you want it
handled. I suspect if all the membership were to submit a plan we might have
3000
plans out of 4000 members. Really when you object also along with the objection
send your plan. I mean this NOT in a sarcastic way who knows someone may
have a great idea that all 4000 of us will like. Fred Migliore

Well I sure don't have any suggestions how to please 4,000 people in a diverse
membership.........but I can suggest that if the new illustrated Standard is no
better than what we saw last time.......it is no improvement on what we already
have and therefore we should just save the money and leave it as it is!!!
If we cannot improve it artistically......then we can wisely save our money and
leave it alone until that is possible. We don't "need a change for changes
sake".
What is the harm in allowing Breeders and Judges and Exhibitors....MEMBERS...
to at least see the new improved version before it is put to a vote??
This is one of the single biggest driving forces in our visual on our Standard
and our daily decisions, whether Judging, chosing pups or entering shows.
RUSHING it through and forcing the Board to make an up or down vote on a
mediocre or bad version will be the single biggest mistake we can allow as an
entire membership of 4,000. WHY alienate a membership and waste the money
if it happens to be just mediocre or even bad?? I don't get it.....when did we
run out of TIME? No time for the membership??
GEEEEEZ.......even a space program has to be scrapped occasionally......
