It is simple. Don't elect someone if they have done a bad job in the past.
Don't worry about term limits, (which we do have), and don't stress that
those who are known get elected. They get elected because they get the
votes, and they get the votes because more people want them to serve. If they
are known, there is a reason for that.
That is the basis of all democracy. We elect who we want. If we want them
because we know who they are, or what they have done in the past, or what we
think of them. then they should be elected.
Is anyone suggesting that we should keep electing only new people no
matter what their qualifications are?
I want to vote for the very best person I can for every position. I don't
want to be restricted to voting for someone just because they were
nominated by our board, or just because they live in a certain region, or just
because I have never heard their name.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
