Take the time to look at a map. If Colorado is considered West Coast zone,
then Missouri would be considered East Coast zone--especially St. Louis
which is on the border of Illinois.
When I lived in Virginia, I could drive to dozens of shows in many states
after work on Friday. If I still lived in Virginia, I would be thrilled to
have the National in St. Louis (a 13-hour drive from Fredericksburg (DC
area)--Mapquest).
But, it took me 3 days to get to the Colorado show (a 21-hour
drive--Mapquest) from San Francisco and 4 days to get to St. Louis (a
33-hour dive--Mapquest). The states are much bigger in the West.
It kills me not to be able to go to the National, but I just don't think I
can make it anymore.
Since Zoe slams me every time I bring up this subject, I am sitting here
with my flak jacket on. But, I have an open mind. If the Board has
references other than the U. S. Map and Mapquest to dispute my figures, I am
willing to listen. If not, then the Board should just admit that they are
ignoring the vote of the membership and being unfair to the West Coast
members and try a little harder to find a show location West of the Rockies.
That is a huge area. It's hard to believe that there is nothing available
for a reasonable price.
