The answer of course is very simple........... A caring responsible person or Breeder never would kill a healthy puppy just because it is not the perfect color!! It's hard enough to put a puppy down for any serious health reason!! Nor would anyone that truly loves their dog put one down just because it is getting old just to "thin out" the dogs THEY have accumulated There is nothing more deserving of special love and respect and care than an old dog that has been willing to do whatever asked just for the honor of being a part of it's owners life and standing by their side!!!! I love old majestic dogs with their gray grizzled faces and wise knowing eyes. They KNOW they deserve the best....they've given their all. OLD DOGS RULE!! There is nothing more charming than ANY happy healthy puppy all excited about life and all there is to do and learn! These are my thoughts exactly! I can understand putting down a puppy with serious, life compromising conditions; but never a healthy puppy. If you can't get your normal price, place it on a S/N contract with someone who can love and care for it, but maybe not afford your normal prices - for free if necessary. When we used to think some off colors carried a fatal gene, I can understand not wanting to place them - but now we know that isn't true. Why deny the puppy a chance at a good life in a loving home, and someone the chance to enjoy it's companionship? - Janice In a message dated 7/14/2007 1:45:23 A.M. On this very earth they can "run free", and have a better life than any heaven without someone to love them. If I had white or pinto puppies, I would admire them greatly, have them neutered, find great homes, sell them for a fortune, and call it good. Why on earth would anyone kill a healthy puppy? I am totally stunned by this post, and wonder why some people are in dogs at all. A dog is a dog...a German shepherd is a dog first. Shaking my head, Syd ************************************************************************* The practice of culling imperfect is how this breed was started by von Stephanitz. I recall reading several times many years ago that he held the breed to a high standard and the breed wardens of today in Germany are the legacy of the breed's foundation. But we live in the US and we can choose to cull or not to cull. I do not go nuts when a newborn does not come up quickly. But I had the patience to wait for Sissy to learn to walk when I know some were thinking she needed to be put down. She does just fine in her own slow thinking way. But she will always be my Sissy dog. And Bertha looked deformed for a long time. He hip structure was higher on one side than the other, her ribs were flat on one side and barrelled on the other. Now she looks like great foundation stock for a kennel. Bucko always looked like he would rule the world. But his pasturns never went up. The diagnoses of lupus explained that. He is stable. sheila ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2007.
