I agree, I know it is very hard when you have those star puppies not to keep
them all, but its not fair for?these intelligent dogs?to live in a kennel 24/7,
its a waste.? I feel guilty sometimes when?mine don't get enough house time.?
I personally don't show puppies a lot because they I feel they need to grow up
and be puppies, they need to play get into trouble etc.? I have seen some dogs
that have no sparkle or life in their eyes and it is so sad.? I teach?mine
tricks?and basic obedience (not that they always listen)?and I try to play with
them a lot.? Some say I have bratz?for dogs, (handlers mostly) <G> but I
say?they have personality ,hahaha, which is developed by them being part of my
life.
So?when Abbey steals cucumbers from my garden, I know she is using her brain
and its comical, well... except when its the one I have been patiently waiting
to ripen! ; )
Show dogs can be house dogs too, for me they are dogs first and show dogs
second! : )

I couldn't agree more. GSDs don't do well warehoused and it just breaks my
heart how many are. I want mine underfoot, in the house, sleeping on the
bed, "helping" me in the kitchen, playing in the garden and if it gets to the
point I can't have that then I have too many dogs. My gardens never look
better than when a bitch is in season or is visiting...naturally THEY can't be
in
the general population, but I feel so bad they can't play w/ the others that
I spend a lot of time outside with them and garden, pull weeds, blow
leaves... <G>. Who am I kidding? It does me as much good as it does them.
Who can
help but smile at their antics when they "help"? Just that little bit of
time spent appreciating them is enough to turn the whole day around:)
I was told a long time ago I'd ruin a dog for showing by turning him into a
"pet". HUMPH! They still show. Oh, they might get a little "happy", (OK a
LOT happy <VBG>), but I'll take "happy" any day over a lot of what I see out
there.
