I don't know what prompted the post I read on the List about the Temperament
Test Video but I decided to go watch the copy I was sent some time ago and
WOW, what have we done? The last time I remember the video it was an example
of
the GSDCA In Ring Temperament Test. What is now on the tape is much more and
I can see where it would be very confusing for the All Breed and/or new judge.
 Here are my comments:

1. The title is GSDCA In Ring Temperament Test (Didn't we change the name to
Evaluation?) but there is much more on this video.

2. Video starts with lots of words about there being different ways to test
temperament then it shows parts of the TC Test including the umbrella where
one dog fails. Then it goes to the "Weird Stranger" part, shows Paul stalking
the dog, making noises, waving his arms, etc. Isn't this the action that James
White did at a show? Well guess what he saw it demonstrated on the GSDCA
TTest Video.

3. Next we go to the Stand for Exam in Obedience, then to the gun test in
SchH and another exercise of walking through the crowd at a SchH Trial.

4. Finally we get to the show ring but what is this? Fred Lanting walking
down the line petting the dogs, then Helen Gleason walking down the line
petting dogs, next is Marion Lawrence probably at a national having the dogs
walk up
to her and finally Carmen at an All breed show having the handler stand still
while he walks up to the dog from what looks like 20 feet or so. None of the
above is what we are now supposed to do when doing the evaluation.

5. Next is what is supposed to be an example of double handling but it is a
poor one, however, words state, "This is double handling do not judge this."

6. FINALLY a little over half way through this 7 minute and 42 second tape
we get to an in ring evaluation showing Jack Newton, Joe LaRosa and myself
approaching dogs at the National in Perry a few years back.

7. Now the video starts to wind down, we see German Shepherd Dogs looking at
sheep, doing SAR work, as a Police Dog, A Military Dog, a Guide Dog, playing
with other puppies and then doing SchH work?

8. The video closes with experts from the WDA Masters Trial in Perry and I
wonder just what does this have to do with an In Ring Evaluation?

Time to take a close look at this video we are sending these judges. Seems
to me we are the ones causing confusion by including all this on a video when
all we want to demonstrate is the In Ring Evaluation.
