Hi Tish: On the 17th of June I sent our president a code of ethics. He replied that he liked it and further stated " but...I am interested in changing and adopting a "Real Code of Ethics" before I leave office in December. I really want to see a copy of what you wrote". After seeing the joke of what you sent me that the board passed in April and called it a Code of Ethics I understand Lew's frustration. I feel I am in dejavu in a 30 year time warp.. Still the same old milk toast five liner you folks have the audacity to call a code of ethics. When are you people going to wake-up and adopt a real code of ethics to protect our great breed. Interesting, I made that speech thirty years ago. Tony Amoroso Ps: I assumed Lew was going to submit my code at the July board meeting. He still should. And he was going to submit it at the July meeting. Well, I'm not sure why our President stated that. The Board just approved a new Code of Ethics at the April meeting. I was put in charge of the committee to redo our Membership Application. It was discussed and approved in April. I'm attaching the Code of Ethics below for your information. The new application has required some by-laws changes which have been sent off to AKC for approval and we hope to be able to send them out for membership approval with the upcoming ballot. Tish CODE OF ETHICS: This Code is established in accordance with the objectives of the GSDCA to protect and advance the interests of German Shepherd Dogs. 1.. Each member shall be familiar with the GSD standard as approved by the GSDCA and The American Kennel Club. 2.. Each member agrees to adhere to the AKC Code of Good Sportsmanship. 3.. Members dogs must be maintained with their safety and good health in mind at all times, including adequate and appropriate attention and socialization, grooming, feeding, veterinary attention, housing, routine care, exercise and training. Members dogs should be an asset to their community and not a nuisance. 4.. Members who contemplate breeding a litter, or who allow the use of their stud dog to the same end, shall direct their efforts toward producing dogs of exceptional quality, temperament and condition and should sign the GSDCA Breeders Code of Ethics. 5.. Any violation of this Code could result in suspension or revocation of GSDCA membership.
