I totally understand as I mentioned previously.
The next 3 years are central--St Louis so only those in that area benefit but
it is very cost effective for the club and maybe the best facility I have seen
overall.
Of course I loved Perry GA.
CO was not terrible and of course closer for the West Coast gang.

Morton,
We along with others would love to have come to the Centennial But time ,
money and distance for many in the Western US,
is just too great. Most exhibitors that I know , including us...not wealthy
people. So to take the
tremendous amount of time away from work, home, and school, to say nothing of
the thousands in travel..
no can do.
To make matters worse the Western US is looking at a "dry spell'" of Nationals
for the next three years after Philly.
Perhaps in the current economy it is time to start looking at "Regional
Nationals" . Two or there separate large events,
so people can reasonably drive to a venue, once a year. Flying for most is
not a consideration anymore, with
the ridiculous cost and requirements of the US airlines, to say nothing of
safety for the dogs. We will not fly our dogs
anymore
It is not a matter of not wanting to participate in things like the
Centennial, and National Specialties.
It is a matter of not really having any options in the next several years.
Shame too, as I recall some years ago
the membership was overwhelmingly in favor of rotation.
Perhaps if we make the National Specialty a dog show once again (what a
concept) , instead of a debutante ball, we can
save money for the club and exhibitors and shorten it by a couple of days ..
good for everyone. Friday thru Sunday works
for the largest single breed show in the world...but we can't for some
inexplicable reason.

It has gotten to be more about pomp and ceremony than showing dogs.
Speaking ONLY for myself, I would GLADLY do
away with parades , streaming videos, dinners, lunches, cocktail parties
hosted by the club, if it meant a rotated National, that was shorter, more
streamlined,
less expensive national for the club and it's dwindling exhibitor base.

But that is just me...what the heck do I know? As far as the Centennial, 100
years..that's pretty cool. But
we'll necessarily be siting this one out,, maybe next time .LOL

as I am sure it would be greatly enjoyed.
