Not sure if any of you wonderful folks on Da List have ever bred rabbits.
I HAVE - Just reading the book on this caused some of the most doubled
up laughter with my Mother and me it was REAL. Descriptions etc. were
REAL. What we laughed about was that there are 2 kinds of breeding bucks,
one when copulating will "stand up and scream" but apparently is unhurt as
he
will begin copulating again within 20 to 30 minutes. The other is one who
will
"fall off and faint"!! Maturity is around 4 mos. I think, 30 day pregnancy
&
they'll come back in season about weeks after birthing. It said that a buck
will easily serve 15 does. I found out the reputation of these animals
isn't
quite what the GERBILS' rep should be. Mature at around 3 mos. of age.
It's a 26 day gestation period AND SHE COMES IN SEASON THE
VERY NEXT DAY AFTER GIVING BIRTH. Aha, if you don't get
that guy out of there post haste - 26 days later - more baby gerbils!!!

Kathy, perhaps you should have told the couple to buy the kids a breeding
pair of rabbits instead of a dog. That way, the children could experience
birth many, many times. <grin>
