I had a small one at one time, and I agree with Carrie, even the largest would be too short for most Shepherds. If you can find the one called "the trotter," which is made by a different company and doesn't incline (is always flat) you'll probably like it better...it's at least twice as long and not nearly so heavy (you might have to move it from time to time, you know) Sometimes there are used ones available...worth a shot, I think, because I don't think anyone has ever worn one out. You could look (or ask) on the yahoo list "dogshowstuff," or craig's list, ebay, wherever you think of it.
