As Doris said in her post.......we were both so thrilled with Joan's open
excitement over our
Booker that we were just awed to have "JOAN FORD" come over and be so open
and say
such nice things with so much enthusiasm still for a good dog whether it
belonged to her not.
Joan Ford loved a good dog and she loved this BREED!!
Joan knew and loved a great dog, and the proof was in what they always bred
and exhibited.
They always had some of the best dogs in the Country.......she mentored people
without even
knowing it and without even knowing them. It just was who she
was....encouraging & helpful
And yet....... Joan Ford was not defined by her dogs and their top wins and all
the accolades
she and Fran and their top animals received.
Joan Ford was defined by who she was.......a beautiful and gracious and
generous person who
cared about people, and life, and Fran, and her family.........AND the German
Shepherd Dog.
She left her mark on life by how she lived it. We all suffer the loss of
Joan.

A few years ago, I was in Canada with Carolyn to show a dog. I will
never forget Joan coming over to us, very excited, to comment on our
dog's movement. I thought at the time how wonderful it was to see a
true pillar of the Breed still getting excited over a dog she saw at a
show. She has never lost her enthusiasm for the dogs, and was so kind
to everyone. I will miss her a lot. Doris E
