My first National was Philadelphia 1989.  I was 13 years old   :-) 

From what I remember the show site was nice, but we drove through some really 
*interesting* areas to get to and from the show site from the hotel.  Some 
streets were piled with trash and we saw a lot of homeless people.  Surely 
there was a better route..lol.  

I showed the bitch I started off with of my Mom's breeding.  Shannon - a Sel Ch 
Sequel's Lonnie of Glisando granddaughter.   She was beautiful plushy black & 
red, nice shoulder and back, but cow hocked and somewhat dirty going away.  She 
had a great temperment and attitude and was easy to show.  I ended up 5th in 
Bred-by out of like 20some bitches.   This was under Dan Dwier.  
Dan also judged Juniors that year and I again showed Shannon.  I won the Novice 
Junior class with 5 or 6 in it.  I think that sealed the deal on my 
love/addiction for showing.  

I remember seeing Uzi go Best Puppy and I remember a lot of the old Ardic stuff 
out of Hylock's Prosecutor do well.  The only other thing I really remember was 
stopping in Hershey, PA on the way home and touring the chocolate factory!   It 
was a great trip.  My Mom didn't have any money at all back then, but she 
scraped and scraped to make sure we made it to that National and I'll never 
forget that she did that.  It truly made a huge impact on my life.
