[Forwarded with permission] New England Dog Training Club...THANK YOU FROM THE ENTIRE STATE OF IOWA!!! The last I heard, 85 of the 99 Iowa Counties were declared disaster areas. Basically, 85% of Iowa is a disaster. Just today, I sent a list of needed supplies for the Johnson County Rescue Effort to Lisa at the AKC Disaster Relief Dept(she's an angel!), combined with the materials already on their way.... .the AKC will probably spend SEVERAL THOUSAND $dollars$ ..on just this ONE shelter ...in this ONE county ....this ONE county out of the EIGHTY FIVE counties that are disaster areas Today, at the shelter, I watched a family pull up in an old rusted brown and light brown Ford pick-up. The kind of pick-up Truck that you'd expect to see in the middle of Iowa. The mother was wearing scrubs from the hospital, her husband had on a torn Led Zeplin t-shirt and 4 days growth of a beard, and their son was carrying an 11 yr old Maltese named Jack. I found out later that Jack and this boy had grown up together. Rather than go to the Red Cross Shelter first to check in, get something to eat, and try to sleep...the first thing this tired family did was bring this sweet old guy to us. Like many of us always do, they thought of their Jack before themselves. By the time they left the check-in area, we were all crying. The little boy and I walked Jack for the next 20 min, and all he kept asking was "Will Jack be ok?" The reason I could say YES to that question was because of folks like the New England Dog Training Club who are doing what they can to help the 85% of Iowa that is in desperate need. At the Johnson County Fairgrounds we have already expanded to 3 buildings and they are expecting over 100 Jacks...up in Cedar Rapids they already have 400 Jacks, with nearly 1000 as the projected total. New England Dog Training Club...Thank you for helping Jack, and all of the other Jacks everywhere around Iowa. https://www.akc.org/donations/ Scot Northern President - Cedar Rapids Kennel Association --- On Sun, 6/15/08, Frances Waksler <fwaksler@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > From: Frances Waksler <fwaksler@xxxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: Re: Donations for Iowa Flood Relief > To: "Scot Northern" <nerfhearder99@xxxxxxxxx> > Date: Sunday, June 15, 2008, 6:48 PM > Dear Scot, > > This afternoon New England Dog Training Club had our annual > dinner.
