Hi all -
I don't allow people who have invisible fencing to purchase my dogs. The
reasons are long and varied, but that's not the point of this email. What is
the point is that a few minutes ago, I received the below email from an
invisible fence company. I thought I would share it with you. I, obviously, did
not reply to this "gentleman." It's interesting nonetheless; perhaps borderline
litigious. I might post it on my website, too.

Additional comment Regarding INVISIBLE FENCING:
1.) I want to commend you on being â??proactiveâ?? regarding Public Safety And
Welfare in regards to adverse human and domesticated animal interaction
regarding the Invisible Fence.
2.) GSDs that do not have a â??balanced prey driveâ?? and/or a possess a
â??fear bite
psychosisâ?? should not be sold to the General Public in the first place and
therefore are not suitable for the Invisible Fence; NO EXCEPTIONS!
3.) As responsible GSD breeders it is your responsibility to the Public Safety
and Welfare to properly assess all potential GSD owners for their suitability
for owning a GSD.; NO EXCEPTIONS!
4.) Typically the General Public wants to own a GSD for the wrong reasons in
the
first place, and therefore should NOT be all
owed to own a GSD without proper
education on ownership; NO EXCEPTIONS!
5.) The Invisible Fence is a viable and reliable fencing method intended for
mentally sound dogs and specific needs that should be appropriately assessed
prior to implementation; NO EXCEPTIONS!.
6.) All dogs confined by an Invisible Fence require adequate and appropriate
training by an experienced dog handler/owner experienced in the traits of the
specific breed to be confined; especially the GSD; NO EXCEPTIONS!
7.) Any GSD that has an intolerance to child is a danger to society and should
never be confined by the Invisible Fence method; additionally, any GSD that is
intolerant of children is of questionable temperament and mental soundness; NO
EXCEPTIONS!
8.) If your GSDs cannot be reliably placed and trained to respect the Invisible
Fence and discern with sound judgment the difference between non-threatening
behavior (i.e., especially that of children), then, your GSDs should be
reassessed for temperament and general release into the General Public Sector.
NO EXCEPTIONS!
9.) I have owned American-German Working & Show GSD out-crosses that had all
the
inherent traits for a â??balanced driveâ?? and â??mental soundnessâ?? to
discern
non-threatening behavior from anyone that might encroach upon its territory. NO
EXCEPTIONS!
10.) I have many remarkable tales about this dogs heroism and gentility
towards all children. NO EXCEPTIONS!
11.) I would like to suggest that you folks reassess you participation
in
breeding and selling GSDs and take a sabbatical until you have established a
proper protocol for evaluating your GSDs and the compatibility of the
prospective owners and the prospective habitation. NO EXCEPTIONS!
12.) I think that if your GSD breeding and placement program is falling
short of assessing the temperament of your GSDs and the temperament and
environment of your potential owners is not being properly and responsibly
assessed, then , you should by all means stop and reprogram; WITHOUT EXCEPTION!
I have been involved responsibly, reliably, and wisely, with mentally sound
GSDs for 31 years. Unlike youâ?¦NO EXCEPTIONS and NO TRAGEDIES!
The narration of the events in the Invisible Fence story on your web site
is
SUSPECTâ?¦WITHOUT EXCEPTION! (See my comments on the article as follows)
1.) How did the dog know it did something wrong? Just because the police
officer
showed up in uniform? NON-SENSE! The police officer was portraying threatening
behavior! The dog knew it!
2.) The little girl that had her lip bit by this GSD was not to be trusted
around children in the first place. The owners were irresponsible in using the
Invisible Fence since they did not appropriately and responsibly assess their
dogâ??s temperament and/or potential fear biting behavior properly; and/or,
their
breeder from whom they obtained the dog was negligent!
3.) The statement that there is an â??absolute truthâ?? and/or conclusion that
an
â??In
visible Fence basically offers no protection at allâ?? is erroneously but
effectively employed for dramatic effect in the writing. Invisible Fencing does
in fact provide protection for mentally sound dogs and in the appropriate
environment.
4.) If a dog canâ??t do the protection work required when confined in an
Invisible
Fence area, then that fencing method should not be employed, and/or, a that dog
should not be allowed to do the protection work required within an Invisible
Fenced area. Only mentally sound dogs with the appropriate temperament should
be
confined with an Invisible Fence.
5.) You have FAILED to mention all the pertinent aspects, as per my criticisms
of your article, that validate the necessary objectivity of your very dramatic
but contrived argument. Your article is poorly written and is malicious and
belligerent in nature while NOT SERVING THE GENERAL PUBLIC APPROPRIATELY. The
General Public needs objective knowledge not prejudicial bias written out of
hysteria.
Iâ??ll be glad to tutor you in the proper and fair evaluation methods for
assessing potential GSD owners and their fencing/confinement options. I hope
all
of your GSDs are of sound temperament and mentality such that they all could be
confined via the Invisible Fence. If not, you really should reconsider the
lines
you are breeding, and/or, the early conditioning methods you employ while the
pups are in your possession.

To Whom it may concern about Invisible Fencing:
It is your privilege to deny the adoption of your GSDs to homes that use
Invisible Fencing. However, You should also prohibit placement of your GSDs
into
rural home environments that may be susceptible to forest and/or wild fires.
THERE IS NOTHING WORSE THAN RETURNING TO ONE'S PROPERTY AFTER A FOREST FIRE
PASSES THROUGH ONE'S PROPERTY TO FIND YOUR DOGS "FRIED TO THE BONE" LYING NEXT
TO THE "VISIBLE (PHYSICAL) FENCE" BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T ESCAPE THROUGH THE
FENCING TO SAFETY ���
I have had an Invisible Fence perimeter on 5 open mountainous forest land for
20
years to date. This perimeter has contained a minimum of 2 GSDs and upwards to
5
GSDs at a time with NO problems. However, I do train my dogs properly and
responsibly!
Your prejudiced against the Invisible Fence is as bad as the current trend for
legislators to ban what is deemed "aggressive breeds" of dogs that target GSDs
specifically, and/or, the Animal rights Activists that want to ban all domestic
companion dog breeding!
Be reasonable! You have not thought this out logically. Every home should be
assessed with "Site Specific" criteria, not irrational bias.
