The domestic dog is a genetic experiment in the first place. Our dogs did not exist before early man took wolf pups not likely to survive in the pack to his own den. The alterations that came about by breeding otherwise unfit wolves led to the dog, and in short order. There were some experments done in Russia in the early 1900's and later in the USSR in the 80's with foxes that indicate it takes about 10 generations of breeding submissives only to change the appearance and behavior of of the foxes, and it is clear from the information on wolves and their interbreeding with dogs that it is much the same. It did not take long to make a dog a dog from a wolf. So why not use our latest technology to continue to alter our animals to suit our needs? sheila Gail Sprock <gsprock@xxxxxxx> wrote: In the age of DNA Tests, the Dog Becomes a Guinea Pic > http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/12/science/12dog.html?th&emc=3Dth =96Gail --------------------------------- Fussy?
