Again, it isn't just so we don't have to pay higher premiums. It seems that
you think an insurance product is out there and available just because you'd
like it to be or that the PC should be able to buy a policy to whatever
limit they desire if they can pay for it (it isn't - they can't.) What if
based
on claims experience we were deemed uninsurable? Then what? No activities?
No shows?

So basically, you'd be willing to risk the solvency of the club, the
insurability of the club (no insurance, no show!) and perhaps the personal
assets of
the directors and officers to keep one member out of the club long enough to
change the bylaws and do it the right way. Now, I have no knowledge that
there was going to be a law suit, but the possibility of having to defend one,
the position we left ourselves in based on our bylaws being clear as mud, no
matter how frivolous the suit, is enough for me to say WOAH! What's a better
way to handle this?

Gosh, if it isn't clear already, I wouldn't be willing to risk it.
Especially since keeping that member out of the club won't make a dimes worth
of
difference re the mass production of puppies.

But this is all good. The bylaws will be changed, (I've seen several
wonderful examples already today!), perhaps the code of ethics will be re
worked,
ditto the breeders' code. People who volunteer to serve can look at the
club's insurance, fax a copy of the certificate to their attorney to be
certain
they are adequately protected, perhaps look into buying their own if their
attorney feels there is the need, because, boy oh boy, this club sure has a
habit
of stepping in it!
