Been reading all of the comments with great interest and deja vu.
Do any of you remember years ago I posted the national would end up in the
middle of the country and probably never leave it again. Why say that? A
board member stated at a board meeting in July 2004
that it was their intent to have it in the middle of the country and never
move it again. Voila!
Yes, the membership survey was very clear on the wishes...east, central, west,
central and for a few years it came close....or more or less.
So now its about the money and our clubs financial status. The funds are not
so horrible as to deny rotation. There are many great sites to accomodate most
of the membership and get near a hub airport. Yes Carolyn, you were very right
in your objections for so many reasons.
Evan asked a question about the geographic location of the board....in 04 I
believe 11 out of 19 were middle or central region of the country.
The problem with having the national repeatedly in the same location (besides
the fact that the membership does not want this) is you lose on some of the
essential support. Vendors and seating helps offset the costs.....if the
membership can find away around buying seats, they will. If the vendors don't
have adequate space or it is too far of a drive, they won't go. So if it
loses overall, more the reason to not move things around....stay where it is
less pricey. If a good portion of the membship can't make it.....well, we
know how that goes.
I could have lived with the Purina plan if they did a 3year booking....every
other year.
East (Philly 13), Purina, West, Purina, back east.
And now, no streaming video.
Wonder what the entry will be in 16 at Purina??????
