That was the show that I fell flat on my face coming around a corner with a
puppy. HUMILIATING!! :) Of course no one recognized my mud-covered face so
no biggie! LOL

Ah, Terry, mud only to the ankles ! You would have loved the show many
years ago in Beaumont at the motel. Beautiful site for a specialty, except
that it rained and rained some more. Going around the far end I lost a
shoe, just got whoosed into the mud. That was not so bad because coming up
the stretch where all the chairs were under the eaves, I lost a slip. Just
had to keep running, ran out of the slip and flung it. I landed on Johnny's
head.
Needless to say, we've had a lot of fun at the dog shows in years past.

I photographed the WDA show that was held at Purina farms a few years back.
This was before the facility was rebuilt. The conformation was held out side
in the rain and by the end of the second day the dogs and handlers were
running around in mud up to their ankles :0) What time of the year would be
safe for a rain free event? The concessions that they had there were awful.
It was not a pleasant event but they did throw a great party. I would love
to see the new facility. I wonder if their sheep are use to working with
upright loose eyed dogs.

We stopped at Purina for a toy group specialty on our way to the GSDCA
national in Topeka.
There is a rubber floor in the main building. They will put artificial turf
over the top of it if requested. You can NOT put sod inside.
If we were to have the national at Purina, the conformation could be outside
on beautiful natural growing grass. The agility could be on artificial turf
over the rubber flooring INSIDE. The obedience & rally could also be inside
either on artificial turf or on the rubber flooring. Herding can be held ON
SITE. I would think tracking could also, but don't know for sure. They
have FULL hookups for RVs for only $25/night or FREE if you just want
electric with water available. There are gorgeous fenced areas for off
leash running as well. There are also multiple permanent dog baths with hot
& cold running water.
This is an INCREDIBLE site. Topeka was okay, but not good for RVs. The
showers there were disgusting, there was no water available, and the dump
fee was expensive unless you were willing to drive away from your site.
Herding wasn't ideal, and although the tracking site in Kansas City is
beautiful, it was a long way from everything else.
