The Pemi is a bit more hyperactive than the Cardi and not as totally attentive to their people. Also, the Cardi has a very calm approach to the "work" or "whatever" and easier and quicker to understand what is really wanted. Tho the Pemis are truly fabulous, it's odd the differences between the two as they really do have pretty much the same make up generally. I've lived with both and do prefer the Cardi. Of course some folks answering this question have also mentioned the Dachshunds and they really are good, standard & mini as well as the long coat. I've also lived with them as well. Personally, I do prefer the Poodle for many reasons- NOT the standard but the TOY. I've had them with my GSDs for many years and the smarts of this breed is to be compared to our GSDs for sure. Most Terrier breeds are a bit hyper too so I'd not really advise living with them as an older person. The hounds are all good, but I would feel that I am cheating them unless I allow them to hunt -- Ha!
