I remember going to two shows. Mary Ann Imhoff insisted they slow down, and she did a perfect job of picking the best ones there. The next show Jack Newton judged and let them race as much as they wanted. He picked the exact same winners. I just judged and asked for a loose lead. In only one situation did it change my opinion. I am not so sure about covering faults. It is up to the judge, and the quality of that person in the middle of the ring. I do like to see a German shepherd at a full speed on a loose lead. I also like to see them slow. But, I do not believe it changes my opinion. Evan L.
