and in California (the land of... well.... ), all I had to do was turn in my old license and give them a thumb print (those are really neat new machines!), take a written test, get my pic taken and in a few months (o.k., they said a few weeks :), but California is broke and is now slow as molasses) , my license will be mailed to me.
