Very well said Norma, the All Breed Clubs have used CLUSTERS for years to
make
bigger and bigger shows, 3-4 days of Confomation, Obedience and Rally, along
with Specialty, but it does require leadership and WORKERS!!

My many years of experience with quite a few "clubs" not just our dog ones,
of which I was a member of several,
gave me the knowledge concerning their failure and/or success!
#1 All must have a certain number of "willing to work" members!! These
being enthusiastic for the venue in that club no
matter what it is!!!
#2 The "leaders- ia - Pres., V.P., Sec., Treas. and all Board members MUST
work together for the "betterment" of a
club in a very cooperative manner with the best interest of the club being
foremost!
#3 Very often, location of meetings etc. is vital, at least before the
internet cyberspace stuff of this immediate and multiple
way of sharing the ideas, solutions, schedules etc. mean a lot to ALL.
#4 I found that if more than 1 club is available - sort of - nearby, to
cooperate and plan shows in conjunction with each
other, entries are larger than just the 1 club working alone. I also
learned that any club is more successful if more than
our wonderful conformation venue is available - PLUS - I found this to be
very good ----- allowing other breeds to
compete when you include working venues, such as herding, obedience, rally
etc.!!! These are things that keep our
clubs going and if they are NOT ALL in place, as I found out to my deep
sadness, will be gone!! Norma no L

I was wondering why some regional clubs thrive and some fail. After
reading about the good time had at the K.C. shows with the activities
prior to and after the shows and then reading about the entries and the
pre and post show activities planned by the Minn/St. Paul club, I wonder
what makes these clubs so successful. The parent club should take a
long look at clubs that are this successful and try and adapt their
actions into recommendations to other less successful clubs. Just
rambling before anybody is up on a Sunday morning. D.D.
