What about using space bags? You know, the ones you store clothing and
bedding in and use the vacuum to suck the excess air out? They make large
cube size shapes that would be square in shape and stack well. They say
they are airtight and watertight and I don't see anywhere on the box that
says you can't store food items in them. Or even if you were to put the
complete bag of dog food in the space bag and then suck the air out - the
dog food would then be protected from water/moisture and pest damage inside
the space bag. Just a thought ....

If you have one of those 'Meal Savers' that vacumn seal food, you could do
say 5 lbs at a time as the bags can be long tubes. (or you could do the
amount you would need to feed your dogs for a day). I know it would be time
consuming, but it would keep the dry food very fresh and to go even further,
if you happen to have a large chest freezer you could freeze as many 'tubes'
of
food as possible. The freezer would prevent those moth type pest eggs
from hatching.
