Time to put together a "Vision Committee" , and I don't mean planning for the
2013 national, I mean what should this club be and perhaps the breed in the
U.S. for the next 100 years. Establish some direction (if needed) and a game
plan/timeline to transform into the necessary organization to support.
Some will say that is the job of the PC/Board, I say it's bigger then that. All
interested parties need a voice, all ideas need to be examined and potentially
explored - the process will take some time(think 911 commission)
Just my 2 cents.

Interesting how history seems to repeat itself.Sounds like the old problems of
yester year are the same problems of today.Currently, the club is divided, the
membership is less than 3000( probably more like 2600)I had heard that the
GSDCA membership dropped close to 30% last year and more will leave this year.
Perhaps the solution of today's problems lie within your post; Let the AKC step
in and appoint leadership.

That had nothing to do with P&P or By Laws. That was the Harold
Sands,Ralph Roberts feud,which caused GSDCA members to take sides and split the
club.
The AKC appointed Harry Schneider, as the new President,after interviewing
several nominees,and we were back on track.He was a wonderful President
and succeeded in pulling the club together again. We only had about 1000
members,so we were acting more like a regional club, with former friends
taking opposite opinions.. I can remember when Harold Sands became President
the first time, he was still talking about the former problem. Things were
simpler in those days. The AKC stepped in,problem solved, and we went back
