We should all be dedicated to the breed and who cares where we show them.!!!!
This is the best breed in the world but if we don't stop the bickering and
concentrate on the dogs we are doomed.
The time is approaching....it may be here... for a crisis for our breed and
club. Why are some fighting over this when PETA, legislation issues, puppy
mills
and dealers such as the HUNTE Corp. are on the radar?
People that are running for the Board should spend their time reading the
By-Laws and the P&P. If these had been followed we would not have many of the
current problems.
People that are running for the Board have to stop listening to one side or
another and being filled up with misconceptions and misinformation and down
right lies!
Posting something... to any list.... does not make it true!

Again, with all due respect, there may be some who feel that defeating 400 in
your own breed is more noteworthy than defeating a few in your own breed than
defeating the winners of the other breeds combined. Also, it does not always
take 3 judges for a BIS. It is quite possible that you have the same judge
doing
Breed and Group, or maybe even Breed and BIS, Group AND BIS, thus only taking 2
judges to attain a BIS. Does this make the win less significant, not in my
opinion, and probably not in the opinions of many others. I guess I am puzzled
at this constant diatribe that takes place about what win is most important,
etc. In MY ideal world, my GV, GVX or Select would be of the caliber to be
appreciated not only by those within my breed, but by those judges who are not
in our breed, but admire a well bred and well structured GSD.

Several people did say almost exactly what you are saying, "so what, it is only
an all-breed show, it isn't as good as going Select at a National!!!" Yes,
I
was deflated.
BTW, Best in Show did not take only one judge. It took three and dogs defeated
were many more than at any National.

Hi Paula, I came about this thread a bit late as I was at work, however, with
all due respect,I am not quite sure I follow you here. The GV or GVX title is
just a fancy way the GSDCA says Best of Breed or Best Opp. Sex. The
aforementioned titles can be awarded at any specialty or all-breed show and
being a champion is not a requirement, I think you know that. To say that
because only one judge awards the title at the national, therefore it doesn't
rank as high as a dog finishing, would be like saying any judge that gave you
BOB, or a group win or a BIS really didn't mean as much or wasn't a
significant win since only one judge was standing in the center of the ring. I
don't really think that is what you were implying, that is sort of the
perception, though. Remember how excited you were when Harley went BIS? Think
about how deflated you would feel if someone said "so what not a big deal, its
only one judge." C
