After running from Hurricane Opal many years ago, I said I would never do it again. I sit back off a leg of a bayou, I'm on one of the highest spots in town. Hurricane damage in my neighborhood has been minimum the last 20 years. I can't think of any house that was 'lost' close to me. I always figured that if a big one came in, it had to cross Destin, cross the inland waterway, slide up the bayou, and than there are two large hills it would have to flow down before it got to me. Safe as can be huh? After looking at some of the areas in Mississippi and just how high the water got, I'm not so sure anymore. I think I will run.
