Thanks! Your reasoning is good. I guess I was so put-off because we are just
in the e-mailing stage. I won't even take a deposit from a person until I've
seen him face to face. We breed infrequently and I don't want any puppy going
to someone who seems to need an attitude adjustment. At this point, I am the
one asking the questions.

I would tell them that I would be happy to share puppy buyer references AFTER
they fill out a detailed application. I would also explained that I would need
2 personal references of people who have seen them aroung large dogs AND a vet
reference. After I checked their reference, and if they are an approved home
then I will give them past buyers/people who know my dogs for them to contact.
If all of their references, and their questionae checks out, supply them with
with names/emails of puppy people whom you know would not mind them contacting
them. I have done ths in the past and it works fine. But I woud not give them
emails/contacts till after YOU checked them out first.
