the rules aren't the same everywhere, so no need to disagree.. example; in our
little local hospital a couple of years ago an enraged ex-husband came to the
hospital, onto the nursing unit, into the room his wife and mother in law and 3
other patients were and shot them to death (not the 3 patients, the wife and
mother) - regardless of the restraining order - it happened too fast for the
cops to even be notified..
You can bet that you will not find out who is in our hospital nor where someone
might be..

I have to disagree with you on this, I work as a switchboard operator for
Banner, and we can tell someone calling in whether someone is in our hospital
or not, we can even give out room numbers, but no other information. The
exception to that would be if the patient is NINP per the patient, Admin,
family, or nursing staff (with approval of Admin). I do this everyday and even
just went through recertification for HIPPA, something we do every year on our
anniversary date.

For whom ever trys to call a hospital to see if someone is there,
You can call ANY hospital and due to the new health care laws they
cannot
tell you if someone is or isn't there. It is aginst the law. How do I
know
this you may wonder...I am a nurse and ALL nursing staff ANYWHERE
including
any and all employees of ANY health care organization are subject to
stiff
fines, penalties, and more. So calling to look for someone or to check
to
see if they are there is useless.
