Maybe it is a Michigan thing, but, I nearly always refer to sables as greys.
The first grey I fell in love with was Ch. Ravenhaus Noah. Then, many years
later, I saw LeRoy Brown in a National Parade of Greats. Grey is my favorite
GSD color. Brindle is my favorite Great Dane color, but, I digress.

When we first got in the breed, Larry and Hazel Parks, (who are to blame f
or Tedi and me) always called a sable a "gray". I remember Ghengis, and
how they called him a gray. I have heard a lot of sables refered to as gray,
and I think it did mean sable.
I guess we have evolved, I never hear the phrase gray, except to talk about
the weather in Michigan.
