Honorary Owner. Through the years people have acquired dogs from me and to show their appreciation have kept my name on the dog. I would have nothing to do with the showing of the dog choosing of handlers [or paying of said handler] where or when the dog was shown. I was an owner in name only. This is done by other breeders. I can only think of one time when this could have caused a big problem. But because of the judges awareness it was averted. I can see that this practice will have to change. Even though I have decided not to judge until 2009 when I resume every dog with my name on it I will be an active partner or not at all. It's a good rule. We will just have to pay greater attention from now on.
