I disagree..I feel there are some who truly don't know what they
like..therefore..it is impossible to follow them...Some even though they
have been successful..can't judge other dogs they are honest, though, and
try to do their best Others have gotten their license with only the
minimal requirements needed by the AKC. For some reason..their egos have
deiced they are qualified to judge, therefore they are still finding their
way and they don't have enough experience or knowledge to draw from.. Then
we have some who judge for their own gain, even though they may know a good
dog..their political aspirations or the prospect of a potential win down
the road overrides their better judgment and honesty. We have judges who
get intimidated easily by handlers( and yes..handler have been known to
rake judges over the coals ringside or phone them later for not putting up
their dogs).Finally we have judges who judge so that they can be the center
of attention..more focus is placed on them..then the dogs they are judging.
Judges are people..and they are subject to the plight of the human
condition. If we knew most judges outside of dogs..I bet we would observe
that how they conduct themselves and the character traits that they bring
to the ring..are very similar to how they conduct themselves in their daily
lives..it is hard for me to believe that if one is a dishonest judge in the
ring..then outside of the ring..one would be a pillar of honesty..character
is character..you either have or you don't..C.Grainger
