I think that may depend on where you are. State Farm carried my
homeowner's insurance for many years, but when I moved (last move, not
this one), suddenly my policy was cancelled because I owned dogs.
Period. No question about what breed...I had dogs, plural.
Now I'm back with State Farm in this house...same dogs plus
others.... My previous SF agent swore up and down it was a company
rule, that he had nothing to do with it. I mentioned to him that there
were a lot of breeders insured with SF through his agency--but when he
asked me for names, I declined to provide them.
When I moved to Richmond there was no question from the new agent
about dogs...I took the line "don't ask, don't tell" and it worked. No
one has ever asked me about a security system, ever! If I could get a
discount for having a GSD, then I'd have one...but I am not going to be
the one to bring THAT up!
