Gerald â??Garyâ?? Szymczak - Candidate for the Board of Directors
My wife, Patty, and I have been married for forty-three years and are
blessed with three married children and eight grandchildren. I am the
Executive Vice President of Operations for a commercial printing company and
am
responsible for and report directly to the owner on operations and financial
accountability for this $80 million, 500 employee organization.
Using the kennel name Pagairs, Patty and I have been in involved in German
Shepherds since 1979. We have bred/owned over twenty champions and have
owned two ROMs, a Futurity Victrix, American and Canadian Selects and we
currently own two Award Of Excellence winners. We have bred one of the first
Herding Champions as well as numerous dogs that have achieved various
performance titles.
I have been an AKC judge since 1991 and am honored to have judged in the
United States, Canada and Mexico. In 2004, I judged bitches at the Canadian
National.
In 1979, I joined the German Shepherd Dog Training Club of Chicago and
have since held the positions of Treasurer and Vice President. After
twenty-five years of membership, I am now a lifetime member.
I am also a member of Shoreline GSDC and, over the years, have held the
positions of Treasurer, Director of Training, Vice President, Director; I am
currently President of the club.
I have been a member of the GSDCA for twenty-nine years and have served
the club in numerous positions for many years as follows:
· Five years on the Board of Directors
· Two years as Vice President
· Five years on the Executive Committee under three Presidents
· Two years as Budget and Finance Chairman
· Three years as Advertising Chairman
· Five years as Products Chairman
· Ten years National Show Committee
· Lloyd Brackett Chairman
· Nominating Committee Chairman
· Review, Marketing and Management Committees
A few of the issues which I feel need to be addressed by the new board:
§ Bring the GSDCA into the 21st century (i.e. Electronic Ballots,
Teleconference board meetings, updated By-Laws)
§ Regional Club assistance and support
§ Improve and expedite communication to the members
§ Reduction in the number of Board members
§ Improve common goals with the WDA
§ Prepare for a successfu l World Show in 2013
§ Improved membership application
§ Improve the Breeders Code
§ Increase committee involvement for non-board members
