I would like to suggest this post is read by everyone who ever ask about herding. What a beautiful and precise description. Thanks,Lee Ileana However, if you have an opportunity to participate in the herding instinct test, please take advantage of it, even it is a bit of a challenge to get there and back. To watch your dog's eyes light up when it realizes that it is OK to chase the sheep is a once in a lifetime look into the mind of a herding dog. Then, when they finally get the hand of it, you will see gait like you have never seen it before. Maybe, for the first time, everything that is written down in the Standard will make sense. You will see your dog's head raise up and its chest puff out as the dog tried to move the sheep. As your dog starts to relax, you will see the gait become so flowing that you are sure you have a grand victor in the making. You will see courage, strength and purpose come alive in the dog you may once have thought of as just a puppy. This is an awesome spectacle to watch. And, you'll find out all Shepherds are, deep down inside, working dogs at heart. Lee Smith ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2005.
