Thanks to all those who replied. I will pass the information along to the
co-worker. 

Years ago I had a male GSD who had 3 separate instances and we did the
surgery and neither of his ears stood again.

I was hoping there was some new treatment that would not require surgery
that would help my co-worker and her old Dachshund.
