I lost 3 GSD's to Hemangiosarcoma 2000-2003 a Dob and Shepherd-Collie to it
starting in 1981. It was just referred to by my vet as cancer of the blood
vessels years ago that formed on the major organs. My first GSD I lost to the
disease had it arrest as he stopped bleeding but I lost him to it several
months later. It is a horrible disease to deal with as it is usually referred
to as the silent killer. I know many dogs are lost to it that a vet never does
bloodwork or ultrasound on so the owner never knows. When my dog first had the
symptom my vet thought torsion since the they can show very much the same signs
at first. Certain bloodlines are prone to it as after studying and researching
the disease have found this to be true.
