I have had a Panasonic for years in the kennel.  We have used it so much 
that we have worn throught the base pan and I need to replace it.  That is 
a lot of vacuuming.  The most important thing on a good vacuum is that you 
take the time to maintain it.  Once every six months, remove the built up 
hair in the wheels, look for "gunked" up areas where moisture gets in and 
clean the hoses with high pressure air.  Will extend the life of any 
vacuum.  ALSO, empty it bag as soon as it fills.
