The ivermectin route was what I was going to do, but the vet said she
wouldn't suggest it. This is the same vet who told me 7 years ago that I
could give ivermectin for heartworm prevention, and told me how to dose it.
I'm not sure what the reason was, exactly, for not wanting to treat him with
it. I never really got an answer to that question.
Also, what is the purpose of the antibiotics? I've seen it mentioned several
places, but I'm one of those that does not like to give antibiotics unless
absolutely necessary, and I don't understand what good they do against
heartworm.
