I spoke w/ a friend of mine a few days ago, and he had an episode w/ heartworms
in his labrador..been on heartworm preventative for years, never missed a beat.
The vet informed him that the the dog can sometimes gt heartworms even on the
meds!! I have also heard of SEVERAL cases of heartworms here.. Two from a
friend of ours, they contracted heartworms in two dogs w/in a few months.. I've
been associated w/ dogs in some shape form and fashion snce the 1980's and have
never heard of someone actually getting heart worms, except for a female lab
that my family owned way back when, our second family pet. That how I found out
about them, my pet contracted them and died. And know 4 cases in less than one
year.. Scary to say the least.
