MDR1 is a genetic test for drug sensitivity, very uncommon in GSD but is in
WGSD.
LCP results when the blood supply to the head of the femur is interrupted,
resulting in the death of the bone cells. This condition often repairs itself
in time. Not a common disease of the GSD but is in the JACK RUSSELL

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Health Clearances Database in OFA
I was looking at the OFA website and it struck me as curious that they have
9 DNA tests available for German Shepherd Dogs, 2 of which I am absolutely
unfamiliar with (MDR1 & LCP).
What I like is that OFA gives you an explanation on how your results affect
your breeding program and how to move forward.
Here are the rankings.
MDR1 100% of dogs tested were normal
LCP 100% of dogs tested were normal
Hearing 100% of dogs tested were normal
Patella 99% of dogs tested were normal
Cardial 99% of dogs tested were normal
Thyroids 91% of dogs tested were normal
Elbows 80% of dogs tested were normal
Hips 78% of dogs tested were normal
DM 50% of dogs tested were normal.
We are all familiar with Hips and Elbows testing, many are familiar with
Cardiac and Thyroid, and DM is becoming more popular. Personally, I would
like to see a test for Megaesophagus.
