OK I have to ask. How is hand setting a dog going to make their bodies look
longer, their stifles look longer or their upper arm look longer?? They are
going to appear short in all those departments no matter how it is set.
I love to see a trained show dog. In fact if that is the Job the GSD is doing
then it should be trained to do it with style and grace and not look like a
frantic child that can not leave it's mother :0)

Their bodies are too short, the stifle is too short and the upper arms are
too short.  Other than that, they are just perfect. I don't want to see this
type of dog self stack, it's not very pleasing to my eye, unless you are
into labs, not that there is anything wrong with that except we are in the
GSD ring.
If built correctly ...with proper perportions...they self stack and look
good.

A friend  and I were discussing how the old GSD handlers would walk dogs
into a stack,  get the dogs to straighten their front legs by pressing on
the
off side  shoulder and show case their dogs.  I rarely see that any more.
Most handlers today seem to stack their dogs by placing each leg.  I see
some GSD's that will free stack in the all breed ring, especially if they
are
specials, but I don't recall seeing that at any specialty shows.  What are
your observations?

Dragonslayer walked into a stack without touching him.  Few  since then
have done that. I seldom moved a leg, other than the rear leg inside.

If built correctly, a dog is easy to pose.  So few are.
