bt means black and tan gene
S means sable gene
Every dog carries 2 genes for color: one from the dam and one from the sire.
Both parents sable:
S/S x S/S = SS (all pups will be look sable)
Both parents sable:
S/S x S/bt = S/S or S/bt (all pups will look sable)
Both parents sable:
S/bt x S/bt = S/S or S/bt (these pups will look sable )
bt/bt (these pups will look blk &tn)
One parent salbe, one parent blk & tn:
S/S x bt/bt = S/bt (all pups will look sable)
One parent sable, one parent blk & tn:
S/bt x bt/bt = S/bt (these pups will look sable)
bt/bt (these pups will look blk & tn)
Both parents blk & tn:
bt/bt x bt/bt = bt/bt (all pups will look blk & tn)
Note: 2 sable parents can have blk & tn pups, but 2 blk & tn parents cannot
have sable pups.
