[ SHOWGSD-L ] Grand Champions - Another Point of View

Although I do find some faults with the Grand Champion thing, it really isn't
all that bad. Sure, some dogs that shouldn't get Grand Championships will get
them - but those are the same dogs who probably shouldn't be champions in the
first place...
Something to consider in many breeds where entries are small. If you are a
provisional judge, trying to get breeds under your belt, the option of Grand
Champion points often means there will be more dogs of a breed to get your
hands on - and specials at that - good bad or indifferent.
Just one more thing to think about. And don't forget, many folks are keeping
fewer dogs and therefore looking for different outlets for their dogs to do
things with them. If your dog is a champion and likes to show - what the
heck... Go for another title!
