I couldn't agree with you more.
Had a conversation w/ someone the other day telling me how great Philly was
to fly into/from. Ummmmm....no.
I am an hour from Philly and 2 hours from Newark and prefer Newark. Why?
24 hour cargo. Philly closes at 9 PM. Plane is late...bad weather? You're
screwed. Plus Newark is a hub for Continental/United, lot of direct
non-stops.
I said this in the beginning though...

I have asked the Board for YEARS to try to book a dog every time they
have a Board meeting at a 'proposed' show site. Just ask the airline
about flying a dog in a # 500 crate when you are booking your own flight.
It's pretty simple.
If someone on the Board is flying in to check out a site from Florida,
or California or Oregon or Texas....they SHOULD KNOW what problems the
membership will be facing when they try to get to that site WITH A DOG!
We had one Board meeting scheduled for a gorgeous possible site in
Ft. Lauderdale Florida at one meeting. It was SUPER expensive for the
Board to fly into and almost impossible to get there with a dog when I
tried to book my flight in from California.
The Board listened and nixed the site.
You really need to experience it!! Of course it is a shame. There are
quite a few of us that would LOVE to show our dogs under the Specials Judge
this year or in the Classes or see the World Trials or enjoy the Grand
Celebration. It is really frustrating to have to buy a #700 crate and pay
almost $1,000 just to get your dog there!!
AND....in many airports it cannot be done anyway!!
THE BOARD MUST SERIOUSLY CONSIDER THIS PROBLEM!!
Again..........It's NOT COMPLICATED.
Worrying about extra classes for Long coats and changing established
Awards and the Standard is complicated.....<G>

I do understand the great distances one must travel from the West Coast and
I do understand the
economical considerations that affect all of us BUT I doubt if any of us
will be here for the
next 100 years and to miss the grand celebration that has been planned by
Nancy and the committee
is really a shame as I am sure it would be greatly enjoyed.
