Penny,
Those who would vote "no" because they "hate" the White Shepherd are
pathetic. Same with Blacks. The vast majority of us who would vote "no" do
not "hate" the white shepherd, that is not a valid reason. Please read my
other email. This SHOULD BE about the integrity of the Breed Standard -
period. In every walk of life, business AND recreation there are and will
always be
"unpleasant, mean spirited people". It was always thus and will always be.
Forget them ,they are not worthy of your time.

We are not born to hate. We are born with our brains a clean slate. We are
taught values by our parents. A couple of the things I was taught by Mom
and Dad were to respect people, their opinions and to be objective. If
everyone had the SAME opinions, what a dull world it would be! Take dog
shows--if judging were not subjective, then the SAME type of dog would win
all the time, maybe even the same color. Back in the 80s, my BLACK puppy
Landsend's Obie of Jeenellyn, CD, garnered WD at the Kennel Club of Buffalo.
The judge was Skip Stanbridge. Then to make the day even sweeter, Skip
stayed true to type and chose Obie's BLACK granddam Onyx as his WB. Oh the
grousing, oh the hate; "Next time I'm going to bring MY Belgian Sheep Dogs,"
I heard. People couldn't stand it that not one but TWO black GSDs won.
This is what my early show experiences were--many people just hate solid
blacks. These peeps were not raised by my parents, obviously. Remember the
song in the 70s, as public service messages on TV that went something like
this?: "You've got to be taught to hate and hate, you've got to be taught,
you cannot wait, it's got to be drummed in your dear little ear, you've got
to be carefully taught . . ."
The objectivity taught to me by my parents hold true today. Back (30 years
ago) when I believed all that was written and said about White GSDs, I was
wrong. They are not of ill-health, they are not flawed in any way. I know
of one white GSD that, if he were black, black & red OR sable (any color
other than white) would clean up in the conformation ring. But he's white.
VO T E. Whatever is decided will be the way it is. Like Flower Boy, I
think I know the result.
And thanks to Mom and Dad, I'm objective. I refuse to move to the back of
the bus.
