The breed has come a long way since solid black Ch. UFO finished (with handler
Lanalee) in the late 70's. Whether people (who own black and tans) want to
admit it or not, in MY experience black GSDs are harder to finish. Carolyn is
right when she says that the cdolor shouldn't matter--but unfortunately it
does. It teaches one humility however--when showing blacks, my dogs have
either won or been at the end of the line. The same goes with Forest, who is
bi-colored. I started out with all-blacks in the 70s--but I must agree with
Carolyn--it's the movement, show attitude--NOT THE COLOR. Some judges just
don't like black dogs and/or they don't know how to look at them. It's a
challenge.
