And I'd like to expand on that thought.  The mark of any really great group of
people is the extent to which they extend themselves to and interact with those
who are not members of "their group".  Lots of groups appear to have great
camaraderie within it but then close themselves off and isolate themselves from
everyone else.  Too often I can tell which dog is in the ring -- even without a
catalog -- just by watching which group is
applauding for that dog.  While it's great to support the members of your own
group, it doesn't preclude you from congratulating, appreciating or applauding
the dogs and owners that are not part of your group.  Just something to think
about ...

Kelly the first half of this paragraph is sooo true, we need to support each
other, its not about only one person winning its about everyone having a chance
and support the person that does, whether you agree or not you were not that
judge for the day.  Be happy for the person who won.  I can't tell you how many
spectators have approached me and commented on the commadarie they see with our
group versus the sore losers they also see at a show.  We can't win them all
folks... so Kelly your right ENCOURAGE NOT DISCOURAGE!!!

In regards to the second half of the paragraph, shame
 on that
person.  Unfortunately, this is what a novice would see and who would want to
get into showing seeing that..... Like Kelly said we all want to win.... but if
you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.

It seemed like everyone really enjoyed watching the dog show and
heering each other on. Let's face it, conformation entries are declining, we
an't win all the time and we NEED to support one another. It is really not that
ard to say "Congratulations" or "Way to Go", and then if you disagree with the
udge, go back to your car and complain. Do not do it ringside! We shouldn't
ave to be reminded, as adults & competitors, that it is not okay to be a poor
port, but maybe we need that reminder time and again. There was one incident
hat left a bad taste in my mouth this weekend. If your dog/bitch doesn't win a
lass; it is not okay to start complaining ringside, it is not okay to use the

F" word, it is not okay to talk bad and "rip" on the dogs that beat you and it
s really not ok to tell friends of the owner
of a dog that beat yours just how terrible you think the dog is. That is NOT
kay! I understand that we are all competitive, we want to win and get caught up
n "the moment". But that is what makes people want to leave the conformation
ing and quit competing...remember the motto "Encourage, not Discourage"?

Finally getting caught up at work and have time to
 send a brag.

unday our girl, Trio's Rumor Has It V. Marquis, went Best Opp in Maturity under
obbi Kindy! All I can say is wow, what a mover! Thank you so much for this win
obbi, it made my parents very, very, very happy...Rumor is sired by the one and
nly "Oscar" and out of our bitch "Maizy". She is bred & owned by me, my parents
Roger & Linda Salava) and Liz Oster. But it means so much to my parents as she
ives with them as their happy house dog.

hank you to Liz Oster for handling "Roo" and making her look so fabulous, you
lways do such an amazing job.  And a very big thank you to Rumor's new friend,
oug Oster, for conditioning her and grooming her. We are very appreciative of
oth of you and your family. Oh and thanks to my Dad, Rog, for the super job
oubling. I have never seen him so animated. That was fun to watch. ;-)

he GSDC of Minneapolis & St. Paul had a very successful
 weekend. I am not just
ragging because I am a member, but because all of our hardworking members do
uch a wonderful with this show. I can really say I love our club! The show
ite, ring size, food, hospitality, quality of German Shepherds, raffle, silent
uction, prizes...all amazing. It was nice to catch up with old friends and
isit with owners/breeders/handlers that don't make it up to MN often.

can say, all in all, the sportsmanship was great. The support for our one
unior Handler (our MN Superstar Maria Oster), the Veterans, the Specials was
verwhelming. It seemed like everyone really enjoyed watching the dog show and
heering each other on. Let's face it, conformation entries are declining, we
